Sarasota Association of REALTORS - They need my online reputation management help!
October 19, 2008
Online Reputation Management is something I do for a living.
Many Sarasota REALTORS may not realize it, but The
has got themselves into a DEEP problem. It is one that is not going to go away. I have the solution for you guys. (That’s what I get paid to do.)
Sarasota Association of REALTORS
The reason that they are IN the problem is that they have tried to STEAL the work of one of their own REALTORS simply because he disagreed with them and went to court to try to win his side of the disagreement. The details of what happened next are HERE. Then several people from around the web chimed in as well Here. and Here. and Here. and Here. and Here. (getting the idea, right? You are such a laughingstock that the online crowd is doing the Hokie Pokie with words about your actions) And then I authored Sarasota Association of REALTORS - the Real Cybersquat.
And the bottom line is that this is going to keep on growing. The bloggers will just keep linking to it and the ones who lose in the end will be Marc (he’s already lost a ton-more than most of us would have stood for), and as the entity that has lost the MOST, it will be the SARASOTA BOARD themselves.
Sad part is - it is 100% avoidable. NAR could win, instead of looking like bumbling fools for making the changes to Article 12 and opening the door to more idiocy. SAR could win, instead of BEING the idiocy that crawled through the loophole. And the REALTORS could win because they could TRUST their board not to screw them over, but rather to do the RIGHT thing and serve the needs of the dues paying members.
My contact form is to the right. If you hear my solution to your problem, and you take my advice, I will work for free, If you don’t take my advice, then it is my regular hourly rate. It’s a bargain. Pick up the phone!
UPDATE: A TON OF OTHER BLOGGERS HAVE NOW OFFERED THEIR OPINIONS AS WELL:
Acne Clearing Device - huh?
October 13, 2008
OK, it is Monday morning. I am in a foul mood and have a TON of work ahead of me…then I stop by Real Estate Webmasters and read this thread. Seems someone posted over at ActiveRain about their massive SKILLZ when it comes to ranking for the terms Acne clearing device, Acne clearing, and another nonsense term or two. That (of course) should translate into their ability to help someone rank for Real Estate related terms as well. Ummm…examples PLEASE!!
Then this guy has the nerve to post how good he is in an attempt to get customers from the real estate community by selling them MASS QUANTITIES of LINKS for $149. (And he calls himself a former Googler??? I call BS!!! He obviously didn’t spend much time in Bldg 43-hehe)
OK, Mr Acne Clearing Device, bring it! Time to contest the term ACNE CLEARING DEVICE a bit? To prove to your sorry butt and everyone else in the real estate community that you don’t know what you are talking about.
Final thought: If you are getting your links by simply spamming comments, submitting to free directories, etc…how good can they be? If you really want to be an authority on Acne Clearing devices, how about just BEING one? Are you REALLY dropping 6,000 AUTHORITATIVE comments for $149–pffft..PLEASE.
The RIGHT way to build online authority is to BE an Auhtority and provide SOLID content that folks WANT to link to, whether on your site or on other peoples’ sites.

Brian Gardner and wpElements go Open Source
October 2, 2008
When it comes to WordPress blogs, no one does it better in my opinion than Brian Gardner. He was essentially the first guy to really promote “Premium” WP themes that folks were willing to pay for. Why would people pay? Because these themes rocked.
I am still a believer that if you build a quality product, people should pay, but I understand his desire to get in with the open source nature of WordPress as well. After rumors started flying, the announcement finally came. Here it is.
Recently I have used a plugin from wpElements.com and got to look at his arsenal of “Premium” themes. Equally solid.
They are joining forces to create more goodness. This time opensource. Rock on guys! Well done.
