Hey Brian,

Yeah just had to have a little fun with it. That's good advice you gave. I think that the door is more wide open for the folks like your friend than many would believe.

Part 2 will be up in the morning!

Best

I chuckled when I saw that you disclosed it was to be a long post but read it anyway.

I spoke with a young lady, last night, who "befriended" me on SDBackyard.com. She is an intern at the local playhouse and is building their brand on social networks. The advice I gave her was to have fun, snap pics with her cell phone (and upload them), use her Flip Video, and feed the community with good hyper-local stuff.

Great stuff. I can't wait to read parts 2 and 3

I expect her to be the "go to" member for La Jolla information by Labor Day...at 17 years old.

Great article. With an online presence for local news and information, the small guy can absolutely compete against the big dogs. People do care about whats happening around the world, but they also want the scoop on whats happening in their backyard. The small local guys can have faster update of information because they can react and get it out there more quickly than the large slow moving corporate giants.
