Are you the GREATEST real estate agent in the world?
![]()
There is a contest underway on the internet to see (according to Google) who the Greatest real estate agent is…not just in your location, but the world. Their contest ends on May 1, 2008. what I offered members of my team was IMMORTALITY!
How can you be the GREATEST REAL ESTATE AGENT IN THE WORLD?
The top 10 contributors to my TEAM Project win the Title! REMEMBER-Since I do NOT sell real estate, I am only helping YOU promote yourself! WIN-WIN!
Team Eric Member #8: There are several ways to contribute and EARN your way in– just like there are MANY ways that Google determines Authority, we need to credit the many ways authority can be built!
LINKS–linking to this page is a HUGE way (grin), but Links are only ONE way of authority building. The top six link contributors to our community project (as determined by the amount of quality links contributed) are in!
PUBLICITY–The two REALTORS providing the most publicity to this project also wins! This does NOT mean that they contribute links. Raising awareness BUILDS AUTHORITY and thats what Google wants.
IDEAS / INSIGHT / CREATIVITY: This contest is for 3 months…I reserve the right to award 2 of the ten spots to REALTORS who assist me with ideas and insight–EVEN insight into what competitors are up to! Want to be devious and help me out? (grin) You can earn a spot on TEAM ERIC and be the GREATEST REAL ESTATE AGENT IN THE WORLD.
GOOD LUCK!
So here are the members of Team Eric so far. They are listed in no particular order. You are about to find out who they are and WHY they are on my team!
Team member #1:
Jennifer Karlen (and her husband Jon)–aka the Greatest Real Estate Agents in the World for Horse Farms
Known officially as the K2 Group at RE/MAX Properties East in Louisville Kentucky, Jennifer has been in the real estate business for years and they have built up a GREAT business for clients with Kentucky horse farms. While due to the rules of this Contest I cannot put a link to their site here, you can call Jennifer at 866-353-6353. They are the best.
Team Eric member #2:
Greg Swann –aka–The Greatest Real Estate Agent in the World of Arizona.
Greg runs Bloodhound Realty and the Bloodhound Blog (Google that–then read it). He is a great guy and a writer in a league of his own. The Bloodhound Blog is hosting a conference in May called Unchained. Go to his blog and sign up! Best $199 you will EVER spend. The greatest real estate agents in the world understand their markets, the real estate business and technology and he is the quintessential example of all of that rolled into one package.
Team Eric member #3:
Ken Smith–aka–The Greatest Real Estate Agent in Arlington Heights.
Ken owns Suburban House Hunters, a team of real estate professionals that specializes in the suburbs that surround Chicago Illinois. He is a veteran broker with tons of experience who understands online lead generation like few others. I am honored to have him on the team and call him a friend. Thanks Ken …
Team Eric member #4:
Wayne Long–aka–The Greatest Real Estate Agent in the world of Columbus Georgia.
(We won’t tell anyone, but the Greatest is actually his wife Donna!) Wayne’s a great REALTOR who has seen a lot in the market. I would without a doubt send referrals to Wayne because I KNOW they would be treated to a world class experience.
Team Eric Member #5:
Judy Orr –aka The Greatest Real Estate Agent in the World of Cook County, Illinois!
Judy and I have moderated together on RealEstateWebmasters.com and she is one of the nicest people I know. She is experience and has been in the real estate game a long time (she must have started when she was 12!) Google Cook county real estate and you will see JudyO there…she knows her stuff and don’t let the sweet smile fool you. She means business-grin.
Team Eric member #6:
Cal Carter–aka The Greatest Real Estate Agent in Gulf Shores Alabama.
More people need to know about Cal…and the beautiful area of the country that he is from. He is incredibly smart and has the experience that comes from YEARS of online lead generation. This contest has allowed me to get to know him MUCH better. I am a better person for knowing Cal. And that’s EXACTLY how you’d define the Greatest Real Estate Agents in the World. They make you better for knowing them.
Team Eric Member #7:
Mike Dammann–aka The Greatest Real Estate Agent in the beautiful world of Costa Rica.
Mike is a search engine veteran who I bumped into a few years ago and instantly liked. We all have different levels of search knowledge and I (personally) have really benefited from his experience. We have spent a TON of time online during this contest. The banner ad below and donating the proceeds to the Eco Preservation Society was his idea and I am really enjoying hanging with him as part of the team. Get in there and Donate! grin
Team Eric Member #8:
Charles and Jacqueline Richey–aka The Greatest Real Estate Agent in the world of Las Vegas
I first met Charles at PubCon last December. I enjoyed the time that we got to kick back and learn there. Since that time, and especially as part of this contest, he has been a great source of authority for our little effort. If you are moving to Las Vegas, these guys truly are the Greatest.
Team Eric Member #9:
Matt Scoggins–aka The Greatest Real Estate Agent in the world of Atlanta
Matt is the guy behind his wife Louise’s site and he gives me the PERFECT opportunity to make a point. Even though I am great friends with Ryan Ward, one of his competitors in Atlanta (but who is competing with us in the contest), Matt has been a GREAT member of our team. Great Real Estate Agents work together with other agents, regardless of the competitive issues. They simply make them NON-issues by being great people. Thanks Matt, for being part of Team Eric and helping to demonstrate the true value in creating synergy where others would only create competition. The bottomline is that by giving, we get and Matt is a great example of that. Our friendship certainly will not end with this contest and I truly appreciate your quiet but unwavering supprt.
Finally, the Greatest Real Estate agents GIVE to causes that they support!
MAJOR ANNOUNCEMENT: OUR “GREATEST REAL ESTATE AGENT IN THE WORLD” TEAM IS NOW PLAYING FOR A CAUSE!! JOIN US AS WE SUPPORT THE ECO PRESERVATION SOCIETY’S EFFORTS TO SAVE THE COSTA RICA ENVIRONMENT. WANT TO HELP?? HERE’S HOW.
Here is a video about them:
At the end of the contest, we will donate our winnings to this unique charity as well…
Oh yeah… there is a mystery #10 spot…Who’s gonna get it???!!
FINAL NOTE:
It is now just about 40 hours before the end of the contest, (but who’s counting-grin). One of the things that I needed to do as part of the rules was to comment on what I have learned from one of the other contestants…I am going to comment on two: Ryan Ward and Greg Boser.
Ryan is a consumate friend and professional. I would link to his post, but it is now linked to mine. I trust him and was he ahead of me coming down the home stretch, I honestly would have done the same thing. What did I learn from him? That friendship counts.
Greg is someone who I don’t know as well and yet, what I have learned from his contest piece was no less important. Greg was the un-contestant. It is a strategy that he used to great effect in the Dave Pasternak SEO contest, so I have to consider him a contestant despite his insistance to the contrary. What I learned from Greg was / is the skillful use of redirects. I am not going to go into it in public, but it was interesting to me… I admire Greg as a SEO technician and tactician. Both of those things are essential in optimizing a site.
Greg may or may not be bouncing up in these last few hours of the contest. Essentially I see three options:
a) He is too busy with company stuff. (totally understandable)
b) He is gonna come out of nowhere (possible but not likely in my book)
c) He is gonna redirect to one of the others in the contest and push them over the top. (a likely scenario as well)
The genius of Greg is–you NEVER know (grin). He plays this stuff close to the vest. So, whatever the case is, Greg, my hat is off to you. Even if you decided a few weeks back to focus on other stuff, it was fun. Even if you come out of nowhere and or push someone else over the top, let’s meet up sometime–have a few laughs and talk shop…sound good?
To all of the worthy competitors out there…(whether we win or lose), here a round of applause from Team Eric and my continued best wishes for all of you.

It is a great contest Eric. I even had given some thought to joining in. I am a little confused though. The way I understand it, this needs to be done with a blog, ok, but also done with a blog that does not interlink with the other competitors. OK, that puts everything I have out since it all links with you and with bloodhoundblog, and even with Eric Bramlett. Guess I would need to come up with something new to join in.

I see the Northeast is well represented. Give me LA (Lower Alabama), where the sand is white, the water is blue, and the drinks are cold. I would have nominated Eric as the best real estate agent in the world, but didn’t realize he devoted all his time to being the best real estate webmaster. How about the worlds best beach real estate agents? That would be the GulfShoresLife.com Team of course!
By Cal Carter (25 comments.) on Feb 12, 2008 | Reply
Oh heck, I can’t follow instructions - I made it the “Worlds Greatest Real Estate Agent” instead of “GREATEST REAL ESTATE AGENTS IN THE WORLD”.

Thumbs up to Eric Bramlett for coming up with the concept.
It should be a good time for everyone.

Hey Eric,
You are #1 for “GREATEST REAL ESTATE AGENTS IN THE WORLD”, but isn’t the contest for “GREATEST REAL ESTATE AGENT IN THE WORLD”?
Didn’t know if editing this page would help your standing or not. I guess if there are ten slots on this page it will be “agents” instead of “agent”. Keep up the good work, I will send love when I can!

A couple of questions for ya Eric. If you win, what happens to the website that is given away as the prize? Also, I would imagine the links you require only need to be up during the competition, is this correct? Keep up the good work, btw. ~Joe

Joe-
Hey! Nice moniker…grin
My original plan was to donate the site to an agent who was down on their luck right now (plenty to choose from)…
That having been said, I like the idea of raffling it off for charity as well. Either way, it will NOT be mine nor any member of our team’s.
What we are going for here is pride and learning and cameraderie. Simply that.

Hey Joe,
There is a good bit of confusion about the contest. Bramlett started the contest to have amongst his peers (he does like viral posts though :)) Morgan agreed to promote it on REW and decided to add a prize to draw a little more attention. I think that you will find most of the entrants already have websites (duh), some may desire the IDX, but for the most part the entrants are pretty well set with what they have. I don’t really understand why the prize has been made an issue, there are others out there that could have thrown in their product or service for Bramletts contest, but instead they decided to criticize someone elses contribution. I think for Team Eric it is mostly something fun to do just as for you and the prize is not really an issue.

Joe–
Follow up answer re: links. I am fine with you taking links down when we are done. I would hope that you keep a link up to EricOnSearch cuz you like me–grin. Or respect me in our industry.
This is not about me entering the contest just to build links to my site. My hope would be that my overall authority around the web increased as a result of participation, but I don’t REQUIRE anything.
Happy to have you as part of the team if you are willing. We need someone from Washington on the team. The south and southwest and Costa Rica are WELL represented!

Take care!!

My vote is for Lydia
Regarding the write-ups,~ still unclear of the rules on this contest. I think the person who understands the rules the most, has the best chance of winning (grin). Just the other day Morgan made a comment about Ardell playing ‘outside the rules’ and didn’t know what the heck that was all about, as she appears to be within the rules so far.
By admin (61 comments.) on Feb 29, 2008 | Reply
@ Lydia - What a great sales pitch! (arm twisting) –GRIN. You made my think of Kevin Nealon on Saturday Night Live doing “Mr. Subliminal”. Too funny. You are one of my favorite fun, friendly friends in the online real estate community–Thanks for dropping by and the well wishes.
@ Joe - The more this contest has gone on, the less I try to worry about other competitors issues with rules this and that. Ardell cracked me up with the “Rules-I don’t need no stinkin’ rules” blast… I am actually going to write up several of the competitors efforts on my REW blog and here…and will even be linking to them. One of the more interesting critiques will be of Ardell’s strategy. I think it was / is clever in many ways…it is very different from mine. She is TRYING to create controversy and I am banking on paying it forward. (That is not a value judgement. Just an observation.)It makes for an interesting contrast. Since Google is after relevance, we must keep in mind (IMO) that most times controversy is highly relevant.
One of the things that I have learned from this contest is that relationships matter–a lot. It has also spurred me to reach WAY beyond my REW roots and deepen friendships with folks of all types and varieties.
Many other lessons along the way as well.
Ryan posted a really kind (overly so, possibly-grin) post about TEAM ERIC on REW. I think if we had to pin a strategy on his efforts it would be the “hardest working online REALTOR in the world”. He never sleeps!
Best;
Eric
By Joe Lane (8 comments.) on Feb 29, 2008 | Reply
It isn’t that I’m meddling with other competitors issues, it really is about the rules. I’m unclear on some of them, as some of the rules seem a bit vague and/or confusing. Maybe I’m slow! Eric, I sent you a PM btw.
By admin (61 comments.) on Mar 1, 2008 | Reply
@Joe- Thanks for the PM, can we chat about it tonight? (grin) Interesting idea.
About the rules..of course I did not mean to imply that you were trying to meddle. My best advice would be to ask Bramlett…since he’s the guy that started this whole thing (grin). That’s what I do when I have a question about it…and I had a couple of the bat. Morgan did add a twist or two to things, but Bramlett should be able to clear any issues up.
Hope things are great up there in Washington…are you getting some skiing in?

Thanks Eric. Things are great in Washington, and I’ve got 30-40 ski days in! Yeah, for the record, I have no position in any of these squabbles that take place in the real estate online world. I think it best not take sides unless necessary. Regarding ‘necessary.’ Squidoo rotates the forum moderation and we were forum moderators for awhile (my hat is off to all forum moderators!). There were a few times we were attacked, but I found the best approach was to work things out privately, then discuss things publicly once things were cool. Worked 100% of the time. In fact, made a few friends along the way!

It’s been an interesting experience to say the least. It’s always been my belief that competition breeds excellence….and how you play the game is just as important as whether you win or lose.

Simple Joshua.
Simply point a little link love in our general direction. That’s about all there is to it…The mystery #10 spot is (likely) filled by Ryan Ward - not sure how anyone is going to top his contribution, but feel free to contribute for the last couple of weeks. I am going to do a post contest write up (complimentary of all involved since everyone added to the learning and the fun) which will go out to ALL of our team members.
I beleive (whether we are lucky enough to win or not), in sharing what was learned with our team.
So point a link or two, join the team and help us have an after contest online party (grin)!

Hey have any of you guys had any technicolor dreams like I have about the Greatest Real Estate Agent in the World contest?
I saw Toucans with bright beaks calling out richly worded search phrases while their long tail feathers towed long tail keyword phrase banners. They were all flying over the coconut palms and banana trees that had pina colada fountains in the shade below them.
They were flying to Mike Dammans SEO conference to meet the Greatest Real Estate Agent in the World and Team Eric as they gathered along the Caribbean shores prioe to their trek across the highlands to the Pacific coast to do a little surfing (no not web surfing).
Eric B #1 was driving, Eric B #2 was navigating, Nick was playing reggae tunes on the guitar, Ryan was blogging about it on his hi fi wi fi satellite enabled super digital telephonic computing device, Charles brought some Vegas chips that could be played in the Costa Rica casinos, Judy pointed out the native hardwoods that were utilized for her woody wagon, and they all had a grand time!

The big advantage of living in Las Vegas is that eventually, almost everyone visits here! Its how I met Ken and Eric. Could plan a Vegas party too!
By Mike Dammann (32 comments.) on Apr 30, 2008 | Reply
I go to Vegas like every 7 years, last time was Pubcon. Playing poker with Shoemoney and spending a lot more time goofing off than networking. Everytime I enter that city, I feel like my brain changes and I can no longer process thoughts properly.
Fun place though, and yes … eventually I will visit again (in about 4 years to keep my pattern the way it is).

I wonder if there is a consolation prize for getting Colleen’s Squidoo page on the first page of Google for this phrase? I guess that makes her the #1 female Greatest Real Estate Agent In The World! [grin] Kidding aside, goes to show the authority of a Squidoo page with only a few links pointing at it. We should do another contest using teams of 3 or 4, or new domains, etc. Again, congratulations all of you the got Team Eric to the top.

This has been a ton of fun, so I wanna thank my mom, my first grade teacher, the Costa Rican cat I can´t get rid of and every girl who ever boosted my ego.
OK we are ready to put up the donation button to Kevin´s organization and I will email all of your guys lateron.
Let´s get the auction going guys.
Thank you so much to everyone, you too Boris. And Greg Boser who in my book has flaws but kicks a lot of ass as well.
So anyways, the convention will happen in December, me Julie David and Kevin are the main organizers.
It will be Search Party but real estate will be a major part of it, I will make sure.
After all Costa Rica is the hottest real estate market in the world right now.
Looking forward to meeting everyone.

@Mike - how long is your daughter going to be visiting? I would assume that after 3 years, you all have some catching up to do - and I’m certain you can find some fun things for her to do down there.
By Mike Dammann (32 comments.) on May 2, 2008 | Reply
She will be here for one week, not a lot of time, but I will take her to Malpais, the best spot in Costa Rica, also close to Montezuma where you take Canopy tours, visit Tortuga Island etc.
Mainly it’s a tourist spot where people surf and party. Hope it won’t rain too much then (rainy season now).
But even if, it will be great.
Costa Rica has something for everybody!
