Sarasota Association of REALTORS - They need my online reputation management help!
October 19, 2008
Online Reputation Management is something I do for a living.
Many Sarasota REALTORS may not realize it, but The
has got themselves into a DEEP problem. It is one that is not going to go away. I have the solution for you guys. (That’s what I get paid to do.)
Sarasota Association of REALTORS
The reason that they are IN the problem is that they have tried to STEAL the work of one of their own REALTORS simply because he disagreed with them and went to court to try to win his side of the disagreement. The details of what happened next are HERE. Then several people from around the web chimed in as well Here. and Here. and Here. and Here. and Here. (getting the idea, right? You are such a laughingstock that the online crowd is doing the Hokie Pokie with words about your actions) And then I authored Sarasota Association of REALTORS - the Real Cybersquat.
And the bottom line is that this is going to keep on growing. The bloggers will just keep linking to it and the ones who lose in the end will be Marc (he’s already lost a ton-more than most of us would have stood for), and as the entity that has lost the MOST, it will be the SARASOTA BOARD themselves.
Sad part is - it is 100% avoidable. NAR could win, instead of looking like bumbling fools for making the changes to Article 12 and opening the door to more idiocy. SAR could win, instead of BEING the idiocy that crawled through the loophole. And the REALTORS could win because they could TRUST their board not to screw them over, but rather to do the RIGHT thing and serve the needs of the dues paying members.
My contact form is to the right. If you hear my solution to your problem, and you take my advice, I will work for free, If you don’t take my advice, then it is my regular hourly rate. It’s a bargain. Pick up the phone!

Eric, you should send Helen Sosso REALTOR and president of the Sarasota Board of REALTORS a e-mail offering her a crash course in online relationship building.
I was just reading the KNOX blog on this, he has a very funny picture of Helen Sosso in it.

Leave it to you Eric to get in on this early… I have already sent my opinions and concerns to NAR and hope that many others have as well.
Glad to see you in on the fight against NAR.
@Maurice - I wonder too if anyone has sent this on to ICANN Watch?
Matt Pellerin - Real Estate Agent
Hey Matt;
Thanks for dropping by! Glad to hear you are pushing this one along too…something that all of us can appreciate — the pain that Marc is going through.
Hope things are great in AZ.
Eric
Just another example of our industry trying to protect the Realtor (the others that won’t compete for the consumers business). We are years away from a national MLS due to local boards that act like this. The consumer will continue to force the changes in our industry and work with the agents that provide great customer service.
